Nature Adventures: Busy Blue Jays

Friday, September 6, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Children ages 3-6, with an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or stories, crafts, hands-on activities, and discovery time on the trail. Prepaid registration required. $3 per person including siblings and adults.


Pollinator BioBlitz Kickoff

Friday, September 6, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Did you know that over a third of the world’s crops rely on pollinators? Learn more about iNaturalist and the importance of pollinators, then take a guided hike to look for and identify pollinators in the park! Any observations made during the month of September will be recorded under a month-long community science project called the ‘Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz’. Smart device with data needed to record observations. Recommended ages 12+. Prepaid registration required. $5 per person/$4 per member.


Reptile Baby Shower

Saturday, September 7, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The Nature Center and its trails are a paradise for turtles, snakes, and lizards! We’ll learn about all the reptiles that call the wildlife area home, celebrate the late summer when all the babies hatch from their eggs, and walk the trail to see what little ones we might find. Prepaid registration required. $5 per person/$4 per member.


Fall Bird Count

Saturday, September 14, 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Join the annual tradition and help record the number of bird species and populations found in Fountain Creek Regional Park during fall migration. $5/person donation.


2’s & 3’s Outdoors: Shades of September

Friday, September 16, 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Explore nature with your 2 or 3-year-old through interactive activities, a story, and a short hike. Prepaid registration required. $3 per person including siblings and adults.


Stay Alive! Women’s Wilderness Education

Tuesday, September 24, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Did you know that day hikers are the most at risk of being caught unprepared in a wilderness survival situation? This workshop will cover the basics of selecting multi-purpose gear, and how to think and what actions to take if you find yourself in a survival situation. Topics include basic shelter, fire, water, and signaling. Facilitated by Femme Trek Pre-Registration required, Ages 18+ , $30/person


Homeschool Fridays: Awesome Arthropods

Friday, September 27, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Not “bugs” – arthropods! Learn about insects, spiders, and their relatives with a puppet show, arthropod activity, and guided hike to catch arthropods. Designed for grades K-2. Prepaid registration required. $4 per person.
